Who knew that coffee bean delivery would make me sad. But here we are.
First, a caveat: if you live in the Mornington Peninsula area, this post is meaningless to you. That's because I usually deliver coffee beans on the same day they're ordered.
Local coffee bean delivery is FAST
I do this because it's what I wish businesses would do for me; if I've ordered coffee beans, I want them NOW. So I hop into my dazzling white goat herder and drop the beans ASAP in Mt Eliza (cos that's where we're located), Mornington, Frankston, Baxter, Crib Point, Mt Martha and a bunch more locations around 20km from our roastery.
However ...
Australia-wide delivery is ... not so fast
If you live in Melbourne city or somewhere else in Victoria or Sydney or wherever I've sent our beans (hello Tasmania and a few spots in SA), coffee beans can take a while to get to you.
I've tried a few options. Actually, I've tried every option. Today, Sendle and Australia Post are my go-to solutions. However, I still experience occasional delays of up to 10 days shipping coffee beans and that hurts.
In one instance, I sent 1kg of beans to an address on the Great Ocean Road, which was still in transit after 10 days. I was so ashamed by the tardiness, I sent ANOTHER kg of the same beans via Express Post to make up for the delay and it beat the original delivery there. Gah.
Got a better solution?
Look, I'm not ANGRY angry at courier companies, I'm sure they're trying their darndest to get everyone's Temu packages delivered on time. I'm just ... disappointed that we're living in a wildly modern and technologically advanced time and yet it still takes 10 days to drive 1kg of coffee beans around Port Phillip Bay.
IF you've got any ideas on how to get coffee orders delivered quicker, let me know in the comments. If it's a solution that works, you may well have a year's free coffee in your pantry.
