Dancing Goat Coffee Roasters was established to solve the biggest problem facing Australians today: how to find good coffee beans for their milk-based coffee.

Because finding yum coffee beans that taste good with milk is hard. Damn hard.

Most coffee roasters roast their green beans with espresso in mind. With the apple flavours, and the stewed fruits, and the plums and every kind of citrus. And those beans are often roasted pretty light. Which means more acidity in the roasted bean.

That’s all fine and dandy if you’re into espresso. Buuuuut, you’re not.

So what do those fruity coffee beans mean for the poor old milk coffee drinker?

Those acidic roasts are nasty in certain milk coffees – particularly soy milk. The acids love to curdle soy milk. Mmm, curds and whey …

Plus, those delicate fruity and floral flavours tend to get lost in milk coffees. You end up with a slightly sweet, bland, hot cup of blah.

So, we’re roasting coffee beans that belong in coffees made with soy milk and cow’s milk and walrus milk and whatever milk takes your fancy. Big and bold, spicy and sweet, chocolates and cocoa – coffees that kick.

Why aren't there more coffee beans for sale?

Good question. 

Because there aren’t a hell of a lot of single origin beans that taste great with steamed milk. We’ve tested lots (and lots) of green coffee, and the roasts available at Dancing Goat Coffee Roasters are the best we’ve found.

In fact, we drink these coffees every day (in between sampling new greens).

Where are the coffee blends?

We don't make blends. We believe strongly that the best way to drink coffee is to enjoy the flavour of one bean at a time. A bit like how Scotch drinkers generally prefer single malts to blends.
