A bit about Galeras Volcano coffee growing

The Nariño department in southwestern Colombia, bordering Ecuador, is renowned for producing exceptional coffee, particularly from the slopes of the Galeras Volcano. This active volcano has enriched the region's soil with volcanic ash, creating fertile grounds ideal for coffee cultivation.

Coffee farms in Nariño are often situated at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 2,100 meters above sea level. These high altitudes, combined with the region's proximity to the equator, allow for coffee cultivation at elevations exceeding 1,800 meters.

The coffee industry in Nariño is predominantly composed of smallholder farmers, many of whom have cultivated coffee for generations. These producers often manage farms averaging just over one hectare, emphasizing meticulous cultivation and processing methods. Innovative techniques, such as controlled fermentation using specific bacteria strains to enhance flavor, have further elevated the quality and reputation of Nariño's coffee on the international stage.

The Colombian Volcan Galeras Supremo coffee embodies the rich heritage and distinctive characteristics of this remarkable region, offering a cup that reflects the dedication and expertise of Nariño's coffee-growing community.
